IQVIA leads with continuous improvement and training
S
ylvia Durgerian started
working at IQVIA
Canada as a business
analyst not long after
graduating from
university three decades ago. She
was intrigued by IQVIA’s impact
on the life sciences industry and
the rich insights the company
harnessed to support the
advancement of health care for
patients in Canada and around
the world.
Now president of the Montréalbased provider of life sciences
commercial insights, health
care analytics and technology
and clinical research services,
she says the company’s focus on
continuous improvement and
transformation has kept her
inspired and fuelled her success.
I receive a lot of support
from the Canadian
leadership team, but I also
have a lot of autonomy,
which I really like.

“This company gave me the
opportunity to learn, grow and try
new ideas, to excel individually
and elevate large teams, and
ultimately to have a meaningful
impact on our business,” she says.
Specifically, Durgerian
emphasizes the importance
of IQVIA’s employee value
proposition, which encompasses

four pillars: innovation, passion,
collaboration and a growth
mindset.
“Because of the organization’s
commitment to developing its
employees, I was able to build a
rewarding career by continuously
absorbing new aspects of our
business and applying that
knowledge to implement new
initiatives,” she says.
Those value pillars underscore
IQVIA’s extensive career
development offerings, which
empower employees to choose
their own path to develop new
skills and include a formal
mentorship program that partners
employees with executives in
pursuit of practical, theoretical
and personal development goals,
plus a broad repertoire of online
training courses.
Of course, for a company
providing innovative technology
solutions, a focus on artificial
intelligence practices relevant for
life sciences is key. “AI is one of
our strategic areas of expansion, so
we’re ensuring our employees are
well informed,” says Durgerian.
“AI is reshaping the entire lifecycle
of life sciences and health care,
from redefining research and
development to streamlining
clinical trial design and reshaping
commercialization strategies.”
Lucas Richard, product
strategist for IQVIA’s information
management and artificial
intelligence practices, works to
make sure the company stays at
the forefront of technological
advances.
“I receive a lot of support from
the Canadian leadership team,
but I also have a lot of autonomy,
which I really like,” he says. “I’m
responsible for my technology
practice, and I work with
leadership to ensure alignment
with the rest of the company, so I
have both the responsibilities and
the support, which is nice.”
Richard appreciates the IQVIA
leadership’s accessibility and
willingness to listen to employee
concerns. “One thing that came
up was the need for people to
gather more often,” he says. “So
now, every month a leader does
an interactive presentation on
their team’s work and how it
connects with the broader mission
and includes treats to foster
engagement and community.
“It’s great because you get to
have a break and talk to people
from different departments,
