How this year’s winners were chosen
M
ontréal’s tech and AI sectors are booming.
The city’s rapidly expanding technology and
artificial intelligence ecosystem — home to
more than 250 AI companies and one of the
world’s largest concentrations of AI researchers —
continues to attract global talent and investment. Other
in-demand industries, including manufacturing,
engineering and aerospace, continue to draw highskilled talent to the city from across Québec and around
the world.
While ongoing uncertainties surrounding immigration
and trade remain, both domestic and foreign
investment aimed at a range of sectors is on the rise.
To attract and retain top talent across these rapidly
evolving industries, employers in Montréal are fostering
working environments designed for collaboration,
where creativity is encouraged. Investment in
innovative training programs and professional
development opportunities will also be key for ongoing
employee retention.
To determine competition winners, employers are
compared to organizations in similar industries and of
similar size. Employers are evaluated on eight selection
criteria, which are: (1) Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere
& Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4)
Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6)
Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills
Development; and (8) Community Involvement. While
these criteria have remained consistent since the
project’s inception, areas of review have expanded and
evolved with the advent of new programs and policies.
Examples include hybrid and remote work options,
health and wellness benefits, and training and
development opportunities.
First published in 2006, Montréal’s Top Employers are
leaders not just in their industries, but also in terms of
providing excellent workplaces and working conditions.
