IGM Financial celebrates 100 years of client service

Companies, she wanted to work
for a company that approached
financial advice differently. Thirteen years later, the
Winnipeg-based financial advisor
says she found exactly what she
was looking for.
“I wanted to feel supported,
to feel like I’m truly helping
my clients make good financial
decisions,” she says. “I chose IG
because I knew they truly valued
their employees and their clients.”

Today, Veinotte helps clients
build their financial well-being
through holistic planning that
covers investments, retirement,
insurance and estate strategies.
What has stood out most, she says,
is a culture built on collaboration
and doing the right thing.
“There’s a real sense of support
here. I appreciate that the
company fully puts clients first,”
she says. “It’s rewarding to work
in an environment where doing
the right thing for a client is the
priority.”

That commitment to service
has been part of IG’s identity for
a century. This year, the company
celebrates its 100th anniversary,
a milestone it plans to mark
with events, memories and a
commemorative coffee table book
outlining IG’s history.
“It’s a very exciting time for us,”
says Cynthia Currie, executive
vice-president and chief human
resources officer at IGM Financial,
IG’s parent company.
“Not only are we celebrating
IG’s legacy of helping Canadians
build their financial well-being,
but we’re also looking to the future
and mapping out what the next
100 years could look like as we
continue to grow and enhance the
client experience.”
Currie says IG’s longevity is a
testament to the commitment the
company has always made to its
clients and employees. Unlike
many firms located in large
financial centres, IG has built its
success from Winnipeg, where
about a third of IGM Financial’s
employees are based. That local
foundation, Currie says, attracts
employees who want to grow their
careers close to home.
“A number of our senior
executives are Manitobans,”
she says. “There’s a deep pride
in building a truly national
organization from the centre of
the country.”
As one of the largest employers
in Manitoba, the company has
made a significant impact on its
home city as well, says Currie.
IG is well known for community
outreach, particularly with
Manitoba’s Indigenous population
and through events such as the
annual IG Wealth Management
Walk for Alzheimer’s.
For employees like Veinotte,
community extends into the
workplace. Under the corporate
