Bingham was
looking for a
job following graduation from
the University of Ottawa in 2022,
he searched out companies that
were known to be good employers.
Multiview Financial Software
stood out in part because it values
non-traditional — as well as
traditional — experience.
Bingham had studied
communications, but he had
always loved computers and
had built many for himself and
friends. He also had years of
experience as moderator and
administrator of online game
services. “And here I am now,” says
the IT support associate
at Multiview.
Our goal is to actually
have people take
time off. We tell our
employees, ‘We want
you to unplug, because
we want you to succeed
both at work and in life.’

President and CEO
Based in Ottawa, Multiview
develops and provides financial
software solutions that manage
corporate finance and back-office
operations for clients mainly
in the health care and medical
services field. Founded in 1990, it
employs about 150 people today,
all of whom work remotely.
The Client Success team at Multiview Financial Software gathers for its quarterly summit.
“What makes Multiview a
special place is our foundation
that it all starts with the genuine
care of people,” says Mike
Johnson, president and CEO. “It’s
strategic to not only say that our
people are our greatest assets but
to do everything we can to live by
that. We’re not perfect, but we try
hard to be genuine in everything
we do.”
Multiview’s primary focus is
on creating the right culture
for its people, rather than on
profitability, Johnson says. “We’ve
largely flipped the mindset to
how we can drive outcomes for
our stakeholders because that is
what’s going to lead to success for
the organization,” he says. “It’s
self-serving to be committed to
your people.”
Organizations that attract and
retain the best talent will be the
ones that succeed, says Johnson.
“I believe very strongly that the
best people being able to do their
best work will lead to the best
outcomes for our clients,” he says.
“And if we’re able to drive those
outcomes, our clients will pay us
to do it, which in turn will allow
us to invest more in our people,
invest more in innovation, and
invest more in our clients.”
Unlike many tech companies,
Multiview doesn’t offer unlimited
vacation. Instead, every employee
starts with four weeks of annual
vacation. To encourage people
to take the time off, only five
days are permitted to be carried
over to the following year. In
addition, Multiview offers 10
days of wellness leave each year
and recommends that staff use
these days ahead of vacation days
because none of the wellness days
carry over.
“Our goal is to actually have
people take time off,” Johnson
says. “We tell our employees, ‘We
want you to unplug, because we
want you to succeed both at work
and in life. And we think by doing
so, you’re going to bring your best
self to Multiview and therefore
