In 2023, Cormack was
“absolutely thrilled” to see
the inaugural graduates of the
bachelor of Nsyilxcn language
fluency, the first to emerge from
UBCO’s Indigenous language
fluency degree program.
“Preserving and revitalizing the
precious Indigenous languages
in B.C. is a crucial aspect of the
process of reconciliation,” she
says.
“The university is honoured
and proud to be playing a role in
language preservation, just as we
are all so proud to be involved
in every convocation ceremony,”
says Cormack. “It reminds us of
the importance of our academic
mission and the pride we all
feel in supporting our students’
success.”
