The HaiSea Marine fleet of electric tugboats is a joint venture majority-owned by the Haisla Nation in
partnership with Seaspan.

management company, to monitor
and maintain the site.

strategy with Indigenous
suppliers, and works closely
with neighbouring First Nations,
including the Squamish,
Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh,
Haisla and Tsawwassen Nations,
regarding Indigenous employment
at the company.
“Those are things that lead to
prosperity, and really what we
want to do,” McCarthy says. "It’s
not about ticking a box because
we have a federal contract: we’re
working on their lands, we live
on their lands, we should be good
partners.”
