company valued at

deeply rooted in energy, he knows
the company’s ability to apply

“It all comes back to the people.
In a software business, they are
your most important asset,”
says Nikhanj, who became the
company’s CEO in 2024.
Headquartered in Austin,
Texas, Enverus has close to 1,800
employees worldwide. Its largest
office is in Calgary, where about
300 people support more than
8,000 customers across oil and
gas, power markets, renewables
and finance. Enverus estimates
that 98 per cent of U.S. oil and
gas producers and nearly every
Calgary-based energy company
are customers.
“Working in the energy industry,
it’s hard not to be excited about
what we do. Every day, our

help power the global quality of
life,” says Nikhanj. “Our mission
is simple: help customers make
smarter connections so they can
deliver the energy the world needs
— cleaner, more sustainable, more
reliable and at a lower cost.”
Raised in Calgary, Nikhanj
completed a commerce degree at
the University of Calgary before
starting in the energy sector more
than two decades ago. Across
his career, he’s worked under
six different ownership models
— from startup beginnings to
a public company to multiple
private-equity sponsors — giving
him a blend of entrepreneurial
speed, discipline and
scale-minded leadership.
“We’re building a culture at
Enverus that’s always open to
change and unafraid to disrupt
ourselves,” he says. “This is
an innovative company at its
core, and we want people to
feel empowered to take risks,
experiment, and push the
boundaries of what’s possible.”
Gibson Scott — who as head
of intelligence oversees several
teams of analysts, engineers, data
scientists and programmers — has
seen this in action.
“One of the things that Enverus
does exceptionally well is give
small teams the independence to
move fast,” Scott says. “It creates
an environment that feels like a
network of startups.”
Knowledge shares are also
encouraged across teams, and
innovation days and hack-a-thons
often spark new product ideas.
Teams frequently come together
for 24-to-48-hour sprints to solve
problems or prototype new
concepts for customers.
Recently, the company launched
a six-module learning program
for every employee, giving them
practical skills to apply AI in their
day-to-day work.
“Generative AI is already
transforming the workspace,”
says Nikhanj. “We want to make
sure that we are investing in our
